Apply for a Certificate
The Central Bedfordshire Registration Service holds records of all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships that have occurred in the area since 1st July 1837. Details of the records we hold can be found on the Central Bedfordshire Council website
Please note: We do not hold any records for events that occurred in Bedford Hospital (with the exception of the period 01/05/1999 - 31/03/2009) or the Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
If the event occurred in Bedford Hospital before 01/05/1999 and after 31/03/2009 please apply to Bedford Registration Service.
If the event occurred in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital please apply to Luton Registration Service.
Priority/Express Service
If you are applying for a certificate following a birth or death registration appointment held in the last 28 days, your request will be dealt with as a priority as a matter of course and certificates will be available for collection or will be despatched to you on the same or next working day. There is therefore no need to request a priority/express service.
If your certificate request relates to a registration or ceremony held more than 28 days ago, you may pay an additional fee to purchase a priority/express service. Your certificate(s) will be available for collection or despatched on the next working day from receipt of your application, providing we receive it before 4pm. We will send your certificate(s) to you using 1st class postage.
In order to process your application promptly, all questions must be answered. Please have your credit/debit card available as payment is required as part of the application.
Certificates are posted to customers either by first or second class post. There is a charge for first class post.
If we do not hold the entry you require, we will contact you as soon as possible and organise a refund.
If we cannot locate the entry you require, we will check 12 months either side of the date given for the event on the application. If the entry you require still cannot be located, we will contact you as soon as possible to check the information you have given us is correct and will organise a refund.
